I (Sarah Clark) have been involved in dog rescue since 2017, when I met my partner Steve who had founded the largest West Coast Malinois Rescue. Since then I have fostered over 100 various Malinois/Shepherd mixes. We parted ways with the Malinois rescue in 2023; around that timeI got my first Schipperke and have been addicted ever since.Â
After seeing how difficult it was to find breed-specific help for Schipperkes in need on the West Coast, I realized some dogs were slipping through the cracks. I started this rescue to create the kind of support system this breed truly needs to stay out of the shelter system.
There is not the same massive need for Schipperke rescue as there is for larger breeds, but after I helped rehab and rehome 4 purebred Schipperkes out of our own pocket, I decided I would like an official platform to continue my dedication to this wonderful breed! I submitted 501C3 paperwork in May 2026.
Schipperkes are a unique, intelligent, high-energy breed that sometimes end up misunderstood. Many are surrendered because owners underestimate their exercise and training needs, barking tendencies, intensity, or escape-artist behavior. Others come from neglectful breeding situations or simply owners facing hardship. We also help breeder rehomes!
I started this rescue to give these dogs a stable transition, proper care, and a second chance at a permanent home where they can thrive.
We believe every Schipperke deserves patience, structure, understanding, and a family committed for life.
